TMS Therapy Overview

Happier & Healthier, Without Drugs.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is an innovative therapy that uses magnetic fields to stimulate the brain's nerve cells. This noninvasive procedure has been shown to improve symptoms of depression, even when more traditional depression treatments like antidepressant drugs have failed.

Our Brainsway® Deep TMS Therapy, conducts therapy sessions more quickly and with greater efficacy than other TMS technologies. During a session, the helmet containing the electromagnetic coil is placed on your head. It sends a magnetic pulse that stimulates the region of your brain involved in mood regulation. This treatment involves several repetitive sessions, with most patients seeing dramatic improvement after four weeks of daily weekday treatments.

Safe

Non-invasive, FDA approved treatment for depression

TMS Therapy is a noninvasive, FDA-approved treatment. Our machine, using Brainsway Deep TMS technology has been tested in over 60 clinical studies worldwide. In some ways, it is similar to an MRI, but uses much less intense magnetism. Because TMS does not introduce any foreign compounds to the body, it does not pose the risk of drug-induced symptoms commonly found in traditional depression treatments like antidepressant drugs.

Convenient

With no lasting side effects in it’s depression treatment

Because our Brainsway® Deep TMS Therapy is able to conduct sessions much more quickly than other TMS technologies, sessions can be easily integrated into your schedule. Sessions are completed while seated with a cushioned helmet for the patient's comfort. Most patients see significant results after four weeks of brief, 20 minute sessions every weekday. We can space sessions out more if you are not able to come in to the office every weekday. After sessions, patients are able to independently go home and go about their daily routines.

Effective

Often complete remission of depressive symptoms

Deep TMS Therapy is very effective at treating depression, even in cases where a patient has failed to improve on a more traditional depression treatment like antidepressant drugs. 86% of patients with depression respond favorably and 66% go into complete remission of their depressive symptoms. Patient's with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder also do very well. Deep TMS also has durability and patient's remission can be sustained over long periods with or without medications.

Antidepressent Alternative

For even the most treatment-resistant depression cases

TMS is a very promising, FDA-approved treatment that has been shown to produce durable results even for patients with treatment-resistant depression. Unlike other antidepressant alternatives, TMS therapy does not require hospitalization or anesthesia, and entails no memory loss. If you exhibit the symptoms commonly associated with depression (which can include disinterest or lack of pleasure in daily activities, feeling down or hopeless, atypical sleep patterns or appetite, lethargy and low energy, low self-esteem, and difficulty concentrating), you can use our online tool to find out if TMS therapy may be right for you.
